Efficiency thanks to CMS extension and machine translation

Customer

Globetrotter Travel Service AG is a renowned travel agency headquartered in Bern. It offers a comprehensive range of travel services and tailored travel offers to both private and business customers.

Brief

Numerous website texts on the topic of travel as well as detailed travelogues need to be translated and published online for a French-speaking target audience. The budget for the project is limited. The plan is to prepare and translate the content in Microsoft Word, which leads to inefficient, time-intensive workflows.

Solution

Translingua suggests adding an extension to Globetrotter’s content management system (CMS) that allows for the import and export of XLIFF files. The solution can be seamlessly integrated into the customer’s existing IT infrastructure and allows for direct processing of multilingual content without time-consuming copying and pasting. Before officially launching the project, we carry out a trial run to identify and remedy any weak points early on.

To cost-effectively translate the large volume of text, Translingua pre-translates the files using machine translation, which is then revised by a translator who is a native French speaker and who specialises in the travel industry (post-editing). Afterwards, the translations are checked by Translingua’s proofreaders.

Success factors

  • Proactively proposed solutions: Translingua addressed Globetrotter’s specific needs and suggested a solution that could increase efficiency and be implemented with little effort.
  • Technological integration: By introducing the “Translation Management” plug-in, the translation process was directly integrated into Globetrotter’s CMS, saving time and reducing potential sources of error.
  • Problem-solving skills: Despite the initial stumbling blocks when implementing the new system, we were able to overcome them through careful analysis and by adapting the process.
  • Use of AI-based machine-translation tools: These tools are integrated into Translingua’s software and take existing customer translations and terminology into account.
